Jason Lo

Born in Kuching, Sarawak. A mix of Chinese and Irish parentage. Educated in Singapore and the United Kingdom. Achieved a degree in Accounting and Finance and a Masters in Business Administration. Returned home to become a full time musician, singer, song writer and producer.

Jason Lo discovered his love of music at the age of 12. At 13 he started to learn how to play the guitar. By 14, he was already playing live gigs with his first band. He began writing and compiling his own material at age 15. By 17, he was playing his own music and songs. At 20 years old, Jason started compiling demo tapes for record companies.

In 1996, he recorded a demo of 10 songs in Malaysia with his band ‘Sunday Man’, whilst finishing up his Studies in London. In 1997, he laid down a 10 track album with his renamed band ‘Drop Circle’. In 1999 the band went their separate ways and Jason returned home, as a Solo Artist. Shortly after his first album entitled ‘Days Without Dawn’, was released in Malaysia at the end of 1999.

By the year 2000, renowned for his energetic live concerts, stage presence, and passion for what he does, LO continued to make an impact in the music scene and began to develop various platforms for the industry.

He also founded Rock The Word, which went on to becoming Malaysia’s largest Music festival featuring over 50 Acts annually. Realizing the difficulties that the local music industry faced, LO took it upon himself to create as many platforms as possible to provide forward momentum to drive his ambitions for local creative industries. His Latte@ 8 hosting on 8TV saw him introducing a new local act during each show to the Malaysian audience. His passion is for all things local and he strives to stir up public interest in local concepts as opposed to the influx of foreign pop culture.

In 2006 he created the reality Football show ‘MyTeam’ together with Khairy Jamaluddin in order to showcase local football talent. ESPN pundit Shebby Singh was the coach who was charged with selecting a side of Kampung boys from 13 trials in each state around the nation and challenging the Malaysian National team. The match ended in a 2-1 defeat against Malaysia but the program built incredible hype and interest in local football. The team has since moved into the professional leagues and gained promotion in 2007 to the Malaysian Super League. Lo is the current Deputy President and Manager of the Club.

In 2008, after building Fat Boys to become one of the premier event agencies in Malaysia, LO joined Tune Talk Sdn Bhd as the CEO. The company is an MVNO startup and provides voice, SMS and GPRS services to customers. The operation went live in August 2009 and has already made an impact on the Malaysian Telco industry with around 1 million subscriber activations within 10 months of launch. Lo’s responsibilities include negotiating the MVNO agreement with Celcom (the Mobile Network Operator who provides Tune Talk’s radio access network), building the channel, sales, marketing, product and customer care teams and rolling out the business. His focus is on achieving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction and to leverage on Tune Group’s potential as a major channel which includes AirAsia, Tune Hotels, and Tune Money amongst others. The company has ambitions to become a regional MVNO focused on the traveler and migration segments.

LO continues to explore new avenues and ventures to offer unique interests and propositions to the Malaysian public in the creative industries, communication and lifestyle. He is also currently working on his 4th studio album.
